Where Are We Sleeping Tonight: Scottish Inns, Richmond Hill, Georgia
After another wonderful IHOP breakfast, we headed off to a couple of flea markets. The first one was a dodgy 'black market' warehouse - seriously, who has that many old TV sets from the 1990's who got them legally? The second one however was huge and had just about everything - I even found the tomato corers that I have wanted for ever!
Having officially completed the southern leg of our holiday, it was time to commence our eastern leg. Driving past Daytona Beach, we headed north to Jacksonville. With Teddy navigating, we all agreed to not exit to see the peaches, regardless of how many signs told us to.
Driving up to Savannah, we were attacked by a mega storm - I can certainly see how this part of the country gets a lot of damage from tropical storms coming up from the Gulf of Mexico! The rain was so heavy that we could barely see the traffic a metre in front of us. Then everyone (and I mean everyone) turned on their hazard lights - brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? American's are great drivers! With the rain getting heavier, everyone started pulling off the road and stopping on the side of the interstate, turning the shoulder into a carpark! Driving very slowly, I finally found a gap where I could pull over. The rain was so heavy, we could only see one car in front of me and just make out two behind us. It was amazing, as well as a little scary!
After checking into our ordinary hotel (which was above average compared to some of the places we have stayed), we wondered down the road to Steamers Restaurant where we had a very nice seafood dinner. It was alright but definitely no Joe's Crab Shack. We had to wait a bit for our food to arrive, so I got a little bored...
Back at the hotel, we got hooked watching a Storage Wars marathon - it's a weird show where people buy the contents of a storage locker without knowing whats inside them (apart from a brief look from the outside). There was one episode where they found $13,000 worth of boxed vintage toys! We so have to look into going to one of these auctions when we get back to California!
