USA Day 9 - THE Grand Canyon

Total States Visited: 4
Where Are We Sleeping Tonight: Rodeway Inn, Page, Arizona

Today we drove through the Kaibab National Forest on our way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon - boy is it grand. Not so much as the hole in the ground is amazing (although it is) but the trails which are dangerously placed along the edges of the canyon - there wasn't a single safety rail or 'off limits' area - everyone could climb on what ever part of the canyon they wanted - I wonder how many have died!

Next we drove over to Page, Arizona. On our way, we rounded a corner to find a large flat plain, or as they are more commonly known here, a range. There was even a home on the range :) We saw this straight line marked into the range which turned out to be a long straight section of Route 89A...

We are staying tonight at the Rodeway Inn and it looks like it has come straight out of a movie: the 2 storey buildings circling the pool, the laundry building, the ice machine - all it was missing was a Japanese superintendent teaching karate to a teenage boy!

We had Taco Bell for dinner and it explains how people can go so over weight here. We could have bought 6 tacos for $14, or 10 tacos for $10, but we got the Mega Box: 12 tacos for $9.95! We didn't eat them all but we still managed to eat too much!
